Prince Edward Island, Gordon Cove Beach
CP73.3Canada
Gordon Cove Beach is located within the Bedeque Bay, the site itself is about 2 km SSE of Chelton Beach Provincial Park Prince Edward Island. The transects are located approximately 700 meters SSE of the parking area off Macquarrie Road. There are little to no cliffs separating the beach into the grassy field/ wet land, there is no residential housing next to the site, aside from a few houses near the parking area.
The beach in the area is narrow at high tide, approximately 10 meters wide. Low tide has exposed sand bars out to about 65 meters. The sand on the beach is fine-grained with minimal rocks and shells.
Transects C is a sparse transect with 3 out of 12 quadrants having eelgrass, however, there is still quite a bit of eelgrass that does not fall within the transects. At high tide, this transect would be 1 meter plus, at low tide the water level would be ankle deep.
Transects A and B both have 7 out of 12 quadrants with eelgrass. At high tide both transects are close to a meter of water, low tide would be high and dry, with a few tidal pools.
