This eelgrass monitoring station is located in South Cove in the community of Pointe-du-Chêne in Shediac. The site lies pproximately one kilometer south of the Pointe-du-Chêne wharf in the Shediac Bay. Shediac Bay is characterized by shallow waters, fine sand and mud substrates, and extensive eelgrass beds. The bay’s shallow bathymetry and weak tidal exchange contribute to warm summer water temperatures. This site has been sampled by the Shediac Bay Watershed Association since 2018.
