New Brunswick, Shediac Bridge
CU69.4Canada
This eelgrass monitoring station is located in the community of Shediac Bridge, east of the Route 134 bridge in the Shediac Bay, a shallow embayment connected to the Northumberland Strait on the eastern coast of New Brunswick. The site lies directly at the
mouth of the Shediac River, one of the two major river systems flowing into the bay. Shediac Bay is characterized by shallow waters, fine sand and mud substrates, and extensive eelgrass beds. The bay’s shallow bathymetry and weak tidal exchange contribute to warm summer water temperatures. This site has been sampled by the Shediac Bay Watershed Association since 2018.
